Report To IWW Membership Regarding Embezzlement Of Funds From Boston GMB

I have been asked to publish this report as GEB Chair for the membership to
see and know the facts as we know it.

Last year the Boston GMB?s charter was suspended for a portion of the year
while a committee dealt with a series of complaints within the Boston GMB.

Once the Boston GMB?s charter was reinstated, current officer/s upon
getting their name attached to the branch bank account discovered that over
$5,000 was missing.

After investigation into bank records we know that former Boston Treasurer
Christopher Halale wrote numerous checks, some to himself and some to other
people, while the branch charter was suspended and he had no right to
handle union funds.

The single largest check was written out to himself for $3000.

It is also being reported to us from members in Boston that Christopher
Halale has moved out of the country.

The GST has begun the process of getting a portion of the stolen money back
from the bonding agent. In the meantime, the GEB contact for the Boston
Branch will be having an ongoing dialogue with members in the Boston GMB as
we move towards the Boston GMB and/or the GEB making further decisions
about how we move forward.
